Braves Announce 2014 Training Camp Schedule

The Saanich Braves will kick off their 2014 Training Camp on Sunday August 24th at Pearkes Arena in Saanich.  After a day of fitness testing and three days of on-ice practices, the team will play exhibition games against Westshore on Thursday August 28th at the Q Centre and Friday August 29th at Pearkes Arena.  The full schedule is posted below and can be downloaded HERE.  It is also shown in the Game Schedule/Calendar link on the home page.

Braves Release 2014-2015 VIJHL Schedule

The Saanich Jr. Braves have announced their 48 game schedule for the 2014-2015 season. The Braves will begin the new VIJHL season with three straight road games, starting Thursday, September 4th against the League Champion Victoria Cougars at Archie Browning Arena in Esquimalt at 7:00 pm.  The Braves then face Westshore on Wednesday, September 10th and the Cougars again on Thursday, September 11th, before returning home for their opener at Pearkes Arena on Friday September 12th at 6:30 pm against the Westshore Wolves. Former Brave AP DeJong Signed by Portland

The Saanich Braves are pleased to announce that 2013-2014 affiliate player Brendan DeJong has been signed by the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks. De Jong, a 6'4", 180-pound defenseman, was a seventh round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft and will join the Winterhawks this season as a 16-year-old. He played for the Pacific Sea Devils Elite 15 team this past season, where he had four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 32 games. Stewart  - The Saanich Braves battled hard, but a goal from Comox's Duncan Pernal at 2:44 of overtime gave the Glacier Kings a 3-2 win Monday evening in VIJHL playoff action at Pearkes Arena in Saanich. The win gave the Glacier Kings a sweep of the opening round VIJHL playoff series four games to none and broke the hearts of the Braves, who had played perhaps their best game in the past two months.

Stewart -  The Comox Valley Glacier KIngs used four powerplay goals to cruise to a 7-2 win over the Saanich Braves in Game 2 of their VIJHL playoff series Thursday night at Pearkes Arena in Saanich. The win gives Comox a 2-0 lead in the series with Game 3 scheduled to be back in Comox on Saturday evening. The Glacier Kings scored early in this one, as just 3:17 in, Dallas Maxwell would walk out from the corner and fire Comox's first shot high glove side on Saanich goaltender Jason Stewart for the 1-0 lead.

Stewart - The Comox Valley Glacier Kings used three second period goals to skate to a 4-1 win over the Saanich Braves in Game 1 of their VIJHL playoff series in Comox on Tuesday evening. Braves Open Playoffs Against Comox Valley on Tuesday

Stewart - The Saanich Braves will open their 2014 VIJHL playoff season against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings on Tuesday, thanks to the Kings 4-3 OT win Saturday night over Nanaimo that gave Comox a one-point advantage over Campbell River for first in the North. The hard-charging Storm also won their game Saturday against Oceanside 4-2, but they needed a win and a Comox loss to re-claim first place. Saanich Braves Hockey TeamThe Saanich Braves are looking forward to another year of growth for the franchise, with many of the returning players to the team looking forward to a break-out season for their game. This is our 47h season, and there will be a variety of on-ice and off-ice activities for the Braves and their fans to enjoy!

The Saanich Braves have become a team of choice for many young players following the growing tradition of the VIJHL, which is emerging as the premier development Jr. B league in B.C.
