l9The Braves came up empty in game 5 as they were defeated 4-1 by the Cougars Thursday night in Esquimalt.

9 power plays for the Cougars resulted in 3 goals, and the Braves went 0 for 3 with their chances.

Trevor Yee was the lone sniper for the Braves.

Ben Kantor stopped 28 of the 32 shots he faced.

The Cougars opened the scoring midway through the first period as Jim Carter beat Kantor, no assists on the play.

With 1:42 remaining in the first period, Chad Roorda kicked it up to Yee who beat Max Pelzner with a wrist shot over his glove.

Three penalties called on the Braves by referee Adam Griffiths, just one on the Cougars.

Braves out shooting the Cougars 8-6.

The 2nd period was a power play fiesta as the Cougars scored three times while the Braves were short handed. Chris Savage scored first, then Josh Wyatt added two more to take a 4-1 lead into the dressing room.

Four penalties for the Braves, two called on the home team. 13 shots for each team.

No goals in the final 20 minutes of play.

Cougars with a 13-6 shot advantage, 32-27 over all. 8 penalties called on the Braves, 4 on the Cougars.
