Ty Jones (picture) who had three goals against the Glacier Kings during a 6-1 January 3rd game was back at it again tonight as the Braves won 2-1 Saturday night in Comox Valley.
Jones opened the scoring with his team leading 23rd goal as he took a pass from Wade Murphy and ripped it behind Cam Waddington. Ryan Smith with the second assist.
Two calls on the Braves in the first, three on the home team.
The second period was uneventful, no goals to report, but the Glacier Kings holding a 22-14 shot advantage after 40 minutes.
Midway through the third period, Jones tallied his 2nd of the night as he banged in a Murphy rebound into the back of the net. Mark Stinson also in on the play.
The Glacier Kings got on the score sheet on the power play with 7 minutes remaining as Michael Graham fired a shot from the right point that Ben Kantor gloved a piece of, but it trickled into the 4x6. Adam Michie and Colten Ruthven credited with the assists.
That would be it though as Kantor kept the door closed and improved the Braves record to 16-5 over the North Division teams.
Braves going 0-5 on the man advantage, the Glacier Kings going 1-6.
Ben Kantor with 32 saves was the 3rd Star, Michael Graham with the lone Glacier Kings goal was the 2nd Star, and Ty Jones with both Braves goals was named the games 1st Star.
Braves ending January with a 6-1 record. Next action is Friday night as the Braves (26-13-2) host the (12-27-3) Campbell River Storm. Puck drops at 6:30pm.
